Fire, emergency and survival · EAC programme
Course scope and learning pathway
Develop and assess Fire & Smoke instructor skills for Cabin Crew learning, including initial-training applications. Completion includes individually observed practical tasks and teaching. Qualification/equivalence, facility/equipment scope and CCTO appointment are documented separately; an online theory pass cannot establish practical instructor competence.
- Audience
- Instructor candidates preparing Fire & Smoke teaching and controlled practical instruction for Cabin Crew.
- Before you start
- Relevant documented fire/smoke and equipment competence, instructional readiness, and admission review. Practical delivery requires an appropriate facility, equipment, procedures and qualified supervising personnel.
- Learning format
- 6 hours online + 8 hours supervised practical workshops + 2 hours portfolio + 4 hours assessment; practical attendance cannot be replaced by a video call.
- Completion document
- Certificate of Successful Completion
Objectives and completion evidence
- Prepare a controlled Fire & Smoke training area and make an evidence-based go/no-go decision.
- Explain fire, smoke, extinguishing equipment and aviation PBE within the actual procedure and equipment scope.
- Teach source identification, reporting, crew coordination and continued monitoring through cabin scenarios.
- Conduct supervised extinguisher, PBE and simulator teaching tasks with appropriate intervention and reset.
- Facilitate realistic, controlled learner practice and deliver a specific evidence-based debrief.
- Assess individual performance, remediate gaps and assemble a traceable human-authorised completion record.
Complete the online studios, verified practical workshops and portfolio; pass the supervised knowledge test; demonstrate all eight practical tasks and observed teaching; obtain the human award decision.
Your teaching assignment
Design a supervised initial Cabin Crew Fire & Smoke lesson. Include the training-area check, equipment/procedure references, go/no-go criteria, briefing, individual practice, stop/reset controls, observation criteria and debrief. Explain which outcomes require actual observed performance and cannot be inferred from online answers.
Use your existing lesson-plan and portfolio components. This contextual work belongs within the published preparation allocation; it is not extra credited time.
References and qualification scope
Verify the national fire-instructor qualification or equivalence and instructional-techniques requirements, together with facility, equipment and procedure scope. Apply the approved CCTO arrangements and retain the qualification/appointment decision separately.
- EASA — Part-CC, CC.TRA.215/.220 and Appendix 1 — EU requirements and associated material; verify the applicable provision and delivery scope.
- ICAO — Digital learning for cabin crew, Circular 356 — Digital-learning guidance; not a replacement for all required practical exercises.
- EASA — National instructor qualifications and examination arrangements — EASA explanation: qualification and examination arrangements require the national/CCTO context.
Programme timings, pass marks and activity design are EAC choices unless a specific applicable provision is identified.

Admission
The assessor checks cabin-safety knowledge and relevant experience, instructional preparation or equivalent teaching competence, teaching English and a diagnostic / practical readiness review. Local operating references and staff qualification records are verified for the actual facility and equipment.
Assessment and certificate
Complete two formative teaching attempts, six accepted portfolio components, a supervised 40-question test (60 minutes; 80% pass), all eight practical tasks and a final observed lesson of at least 20 minutes plus 10 minutes discussion.
