Dangerous goods · EAC programme
Course scope and learning pathway
Develop the ability to teach dangerous-goods recognition, cabin-role decisions, reporting and coordination to Cabin Crew learners. For an initial CCTO class, adapt objectives and explanations to novices. Function 7.9 technical examples provide cabin-task context; this course does not grant cargo-acceptance competence or automatically qualify its graduate for regulated DG instruction.
- Audience
- Instructor candidates preparing cabin-scope dangerous-goods teaching, including the initial Cabin Crew training context.
- Before you start
- Current, relevant DG subject competence for the functions taught, documented experience, teaching English and admission diagnostic.
- Learning format
- 16 hours online + 16 hours live workshops + 4 hours portfolio + 4 hours assessment.
- Completion document
- Certificate of Successful Completion
Objectives and completion evidence
- Explain current DG provisions within the cabin-crew function and identify the limits of a generic course.
- Use a dated source register to reconcile EAC material with applicable EASA, ICAO and IATA references.
- Translate cabin tasks into observable objectives, practice and assessment criteria.
- Facilitate interactive DG teaching, challenge misconceptions and conduct useful debriefs.
- Design and justify a lesson plan, teaching slides, scenario, questions and observation rubric.
- Demonstrate teaching competence through supervised practice, evidence-based feedback and observed assessment.
Accepted prerequisites, 16 online hours, four verified workshops, accepted portfolio, supervised knowledge test, observed teaching and a recorded human award decision.
Your teaching assignment
Choose a novice initial Cabin Crew audience. Map the relevant DG module to observable objectives and current controlled references; do not invent a universal module duration. Prepare a twenty-minute extract with a passenger-baggage case, missing-information decision, explanation, learner task and assessment. Identify where operator approval or a controlled procedure is needed. Place this context and alignment map in your existing lesson-plan portfolio.
Use your existing lesson-plan and portfolio components. This contextual work belongs within the published preparation allocation; it is not extra credited time.
References and qualification scope
Establish subject proficiency and instructional competence for the functions taught. Check the Maltese DG training/instructor approval route and any applicable exceptions; the CCTO context does not automatically remove DG requirements. Record the competent-authority determination separately from course completion.
- IATA — Dangerous Goods competency-based training and assessment — Function-based training guidance; not IATA accreditation of EAC.
- IATA — DG training design, responsibilities and approval context — Guidance linking job functions, objectives, assessment and applicable national requirements.
- EASA — Part-CC, CC.TRA.215/.220 and Appendix 1 — EU requirements and associated material; verify the applicable provision and delivery scope.
Programme timings, pass marks and activity design are EAC choices unless a specific applicable provision is identified.

Develop the competence to teach Dangerous Goods to cabin crew. Practise accurate explanations, scenario facilitation and evidence-based assessment, then demonstrate your teaching to a human assessor.
40 hours: 16 hours of interactive online learning, 16 hours in four live workshops, 4 hours of portfolio preparation and a 4-hour final assessment session. Breaks, prerequisite preparation and additional remediation are excluded. English throughout; maximum six candidates per cohort.
64 HTML5 studios combine real photographs, narration, captions, decisions, source review and original teaching tasks. Alex is your AI practice coach; a qualified human assessor makes the competence and award decisions.

Admission
A current DG training record relevant to cabin duties, documented cabin or training experience, English suitable for teaching, and an admission diagnostic/interview. Any significant gaps require preparation before admission. Your administrator verifies the evidence and assigns your cohort.
Workshops and portfolio
Explain the rule and its limits; facilitate cabin decision scenarios; assess competence and give feedback; rehearse, improve and teach. Teams/Zoom links are private to the assigned group. The portfolio contains a lesson plan, 12–15 original learner slides, trainer notes and a dated source register, a scenario/debrief, ten sourced MCQs and an observation rubric with improvement reflection.
Assessment
- 40 questions sampled from an 80-question bank, 60 minutes, 80% pass mark. The assessor releases each supervised attempt.
- Two formative teaching attempts: ten minutes teaching plus five minutes feedback each.
- Final observed lesson: twenty minutes teaching plus ten minutes discussion. All six criteria at least 3/4, with no uncorrected critical DG error.
- Verified attendance, online practice, portfolio work and acceptance of all six deliverables before a human award decision.
Certificate
Certificate of Successful Completion — Dangerous Goods Instructor Training — Cabin Crew Scope. Includes the detailed training record, dates, actual recorded hours, assessment evidence, assessor identity, unique reference and verification QR. The EAC award supports a separate organisational decision on authorisation to teach; it is not an EASA, IATA or ICAO-issued instructor credential or a cargo-acceptance qualification.
References and controlled material
The programme uses EAC C06 Edition 3 Revision 0, dated 23 August 2026, as its internal cabin reference. External references distinguish regulation, guidance and original EAC teaching design. The 40-hour allocation is the EAC programme design; the IATA course is a benchmark, not accreditation or equivalence. Current editions, addenda and applicable operator procedures must be checked before delivery.
- ICAO — Annex 18 and Technical Instructions, Doc 9284 — International framework; use the 2025–2026 edition with current addenda
- EASA — SPA.DG.105 and AMC1 SPA.DG.105(a) — Operator training provisions and AMC on instructor knowledge; applicability matters
- IATA — DG job functions, including 7.9 Cabin Crew — Function mapping; scope follows actual responsibilities
- IATA — Competency-based DG training guidance — Industry training guidance; function 7.9 cabin crew
- IATA — Guidance to Operators: Power Banks, 2026 — 2026 guidance; distinguish requirements, recommendations and future changes
- IATA — Competency-Based Training for Dangerous Goods Instructors — 40-hour classroom benchmark and prerequisites; not EAC accreditation
- EASA — Cabin crew instructor and examiner arrangements — CCTO context; competent-authority requirements and conflicts of interest
Enrolled candidates receive the programme, workbook and editable templates. Authorised instructors also receive the four workshop PowerPoints, assessment briefing, master deck, course reference deck and protected assessor materials.
