- Documented security subject competence, relevant experience, suitable teaching English and admission review.
- Learning format
- 12 hours online + five four-hour live workshops + 8 hours guided portfolio; assessment included.
- Completion document
- Certificate of Successful Completion
Objectives and completion evidence
- Map a four-hour initial cabin crew general-security module to Part-CC Appendix 1(7), with explicit source and scope boundaries.
- Explain ICAO governance, Annex 17, public security principles and the role of national requirements to novice cabin crew learners.
- Teach observation, factual reporting, respectful communication and appropriate escalation through fictional classroom cases.
- Design an aligned twenty-minute extract within the complete initial-module teaching plan.
- Facilitate inclusive learning, assess understanding and improve a second teaching attempt using specific feedback.
- Apply fair knowledge, portfolio and observed-teaching assessment, while distinguishing the instructor course from the student CCA examination.
- Compile a CCTO qualification-review dossier and explain why course completion does not itself establish trainer equivalence or appointment.
Accepted prerequisites, all study and verified live attendance, accepted portfolio, two microteaching attempts, supervised knowledge assessment, satisfactory observed teaching and a recorded human award decision.
Your teaching assignment
Map a complete four-hour initial Cabin Crew general-security module and prepare a twenty-minute teaching extract for novice learners. Use one observable objective, genuine credited photographs, a sourced case, learner practice, assessment criteria and a debrief. Submit the map and extract in the lesson-plan portfolio component.
Use your existing lesson-plan and portfolio components. This contextual work belongs within the published preparation allocation; it is not extra credited time.
References and qualification scope
For this CCTO initial-training scope, apply CC.TRA.215 and Malta PEL Notice 93 section 7.1(e): qualified Security Trainer or equivalent, with instructional-techniques qualification. Verify applicable national qualification/equivalence and CCTO appointment requirements. Do not automatically substitute the national operational AVSEC certification route. Acceptance of this new EAC pathway as the required qualification/equivalence has not been evidenced.
- EASA — Part-CC, CC.TRA.215/.220 and Appendix 1 — EU requirements and associated material; verify the applicable provision and delivery scope.
- ICAO — Aviation Security Policy Section — AVSEC governance: ASP, AVSEC Panel, Annex 17 and restricted Doc 8973.
- EASA — National instructor qualifications and examination arrangements — EASA explanation: qualification and examination arrangements require the national/CCTO context.
Programme timings, pass marks and activity design are EAC choices unless a specific applicable provision is identified.

The initial module you will prepare
Design a complete four-hour student module and teach a twenty-minute extract. The four hours describe initial Cabin Crew student learning, not instructor qualification. This model includes a knowledge check and review; the approved CCTO examination arrangements take precedence.
- Opening, diagnostic and safety/security distinction — 15 minutes.
- Previous acts of unlawful interference and learning from real events — 30 minutes.
- Regulatory framework and organisation of aviation security — 35 minutes.
- Vigilance, access principles and security culture — 35 minutes.
- Reporting and coordination — 35 minutes.
- Response principles and classroom scenarios — 55 minutes.
- Module knowledge check and explained review — 35 minutes.
Admission and delivery
Documented security subject competence and relevant experience, English suitable for teaching, and an admission diagnostic/interview. Live dates and private Teams/Zoom links are assigned to your cohort. Prerequisite gap preparation is additional. Course admission does not determine eligibility for CCTO appointment.
Your teaching portfolio
A full 240-minute initial module map and detailed twenty-minute lesson plan; 12–15 learner slides; trainer notes; a three-decision scenario; ten corrected and sourced MCQs; an observation rubric; reflection on two formative teaching attempts; and a qualification-review and continuing-development plan. Editable templates and a worked lesson support your original work.
Assessment and completion
- Supervised knowledge test: 60 questions from a balanced 120-question bank, 60 minutes, 80% required.
- All eight portfolio components reviewed and accepted by an assessor.
- Two formative microteaching attempts with documented feedback.
- Final observed teaching: a twenty-minute lesson for novice cabin crew, followed by ten minutes of justification and feedback. Each of six criteria must reach at least 3/4, with no uncorrected critical error.
- Verified online work, live participation and guided preparation; a recorded human award decision.
Certificate and CCTO appointment
Certificate of Successful Completion — Aviation Security Instructor Training — Initial Cabin Crew (Part-CC) - 1026, with a dated training and assessment annex, assessor, unique reference and verification QR code.
Teaching the general security module in initial cabin crew training under Appendix 1 to Part-CC, point 7. This is an assessed EAC instructor-development course. It does not itself confer a Cabin Crew Attestation, an EASA/ICAO/IATA instructor credential, a national AVSEC authorisation or appointment to teach. Qualification or equivalence and appointment within a CCTO remain subject to its procedures and competent-authority requirements. TM-CAD acceptance of this pathway as a Security Trainer qualification or equivalent has not been established.
National context: Malta PEL Notice 93, version 10, section 7.1(e), requires a qualified Security Trainer or equivalent and instructional-techniques qualification. The separate CCTO review establishes the applicable qualification/equivalence and appointment basis, including any necessary TM-CAD determination. Forty hours is the EAC programme design.
